How Our Osteopathy College Supports Career Success in Students

osteopathy academyThe Canadian Academy of Osteopathy is a leading osteopathy school delivering a challenging and comprehensive program to prepare graduates for a successful career in the field. As a student at CAO, you will receive transparent, responsible and comprehensive training so you get the skills that employers are actively seeking.

Our industry-experienced instructors are passionate about leading the next generation of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners, while our modified schedule is designed to accommodate your needs along the way. Upon completion, graduates can register with Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN) as a professional member and open their own private practice in osteopathy, working either independently or in a practice alongside other healthcare professionals. Below, learn more about how we support career success in our students.

Instruction by Professionals in the Osteopathy Field

Instructors at CAO are not only responsible for delivering a comprehensive curriculum, but they also inspire students with their own knowledge and experience in the field of osteopathy. As a student, you’ll learn from professionals actively working as Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. In small class sizes that allow for more individualized attention, these instructors become valuable resources to guide your training and help you learn more about a specific career path.

Our instructors will also supervise students through their practical training in our dedicated clinical environments. Here, students will have the chance to apply their clinical skills to treating real-life patients in a safe and supportive space.

A Convenient Pathway to Your Osteopathy Specialization

Flexible program delivery is a key benefit of studying at our osteopathy academy. Many of our students are working professionals who are looking to make the transition to a career as Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. In that case, we’ve designed a program to accommodate student commitments while ensuring that they receive the comprehensive training they need to make that transition a successful one.

Students will attend in person once a month for intensive hands-on training, while online lecture days are condensed together for easy scheduling. Whether you’d like to start in the Fall or Spring, you receive both clinical and theoretical training in our state-of-the-art classrooms, on-campus clinics and osteopathy laboratories. In their fourth year, out-of-province students will be given priority in choosing dates for their clinical shifts to limit their travel time.

For those starting out with limited experience in health care or no health care background at all, CAO has you covered with our Year 1 Prep course, in which you’ll learn and review essential anatomy and physiology content before beginning Year 1 of the program. With a program to suit the individual needs of students, we are committed to giving every student the best chance of success.

Take a Holistic Approach to Osteopathy Training

At our osteopathy college, we not only give students the qualifications they need, but we give them the foundation they need for a long-lasting and successful career. That’s why our training goes beyond the practical techniques to a classical and principles-based understanding of osteopathic thinking, assessment and treatment.

CAO believes osteopathy must be taught as a profession in and of itself, rather than as an ‘add-on’ to other modalities. This is why our graduates are better equipped with expertise in a variety of areas, such as clinical anatomy & physiology, osteopathic history & theory, principles in practice and more. By investing in a comprehensive training program, you’ll graduate as a more informed and confident Osteopathic Manual Practitioner.
